My favorite all-around food wine is also the rarest one, this Old Vine Zinfandel block of our vineyard holds for me the love of a favored grandmother. 2010 vintage we only made 110 cases, and due to the multiple varietals planted over 100-years ago, there isn't another Zinfandel like it. The nose is very floral with white flowers, honeysuckle, black currant and sage. Red and black fruits dominate the palate with some dusty Zinfandel tannin and acidity adding both power and zip to the long finish, a bold reminder of why I just can't resist farming these historic old vines.
